ALTITUDE: In Everyday Mathematics, same as height of a figure.
Catalan: Alçada Spanish: Altura
AREA: The measurement of a flat surface (length times width). Catalan: Àrea Spanish: Area
BASE OF A PRISM OR CYLINDER: Either of the two parallel and congruent faces that define the shape of a prism or cylinder. In a cylinder, the base is a circle.
Catalan: Base d’un prisma o cilidre Spanish: Base de un prisma o cilindro.
BASE OF A PYRAMID OR CONE: The face of a pyramid or cone that is opposite its apex. The base of a cone is a circle.

CONE: A geometric solid with a circular base, a vertex (apex) not in the plane of the base, and all of the line segments with one endpoint at the apex and the other endpoint on the circumference of the base.

CUBE: A regular polyhedron with 6 square faces. A cube has 8 vertices and 12 edges.

CYLINDER: A geometric solid with two congruent, parallel circular regions for bases and a curved face formed by all the segments with an endpoint on each circle that are parallel to a segment with endpoints at the centers of the circles. Also called a circular cylinder.

DENSITY: How tightly packed the material in a substance is.

DIAMETER: A line segment that passes through the center of a circle or sphere and has endpoints on the circle or sphere.

GALLON: Imperial unit of volume or capacity, containing 4 quarts. Various different gallonmeasurements were replaced in 1824 by the standard Imperial gallon.
